I've always been fascinated by the power of choice points. Small moments in our lives can send us off on completely different trajectories. I just finished watching the movie Bella, and I couldn't recommend it more -- especially if you're as fascinated with choice points as I am.
I assumed this would be your run-of-the-mill-romance with perhaps a few unexpected twists, but what I found was a brilliant, thought-provoking film. The ending took me by surprise (which rarely happens), and I love the way it made me keep thinking about the movie long after the credits rolled.
Bella demonstrates how decisions made out of fear are rarely the best ones. It also illustrates how the right person who steps into your life at just the right moment can keep you from making a decision you'll always regret. One caring person, timely placed, can change your life, their life, and other people's lives forever.
If you get a chance to rent Bella, do so. It's rated PG13, but I really don't know why. I don't remember anything bad in it. Forgive me if you rent it and find something offends you... I was too caught up in the story to notice.
