    Advertising on a Budget -- Using Print to Drive Traffic Online (Part 1)

    I decided to try something a little different and illustrate the marketing challenges of a small business. I'm using one of my clients, PrescottWeddings.com.

    PWC is an online resource guide for couples planning their weddings. Along with a ton of information for brides and grooms, the site includes a resource guide where local businesses can advertise their products and services.

    Contextual Advertising

    Now you can reach the exact people you want to reach with your message! People have been emailing, asking me to place their ads on specific articles on IdeaMarketers.

    In response, I've done a little programming and now you can place your contextual ad directly on articles that relate to your subject matter.

    This is a great way to reach the exact people who are interested in your subject at an affordable rate, AND build link popularity.

    Each category in our system that has enough articles in it to warrant an ad being placed on it, will give you that option. Just go to our category directory, click on the category of your choice, then click on one of the articles in that category. Look to the right of the article and if you see the bulls eye, then you know this category is available and you can place your ad on it.

    Pricing for categories is based upon the number of articles in them. The approximate number of articles in the category will be listed.

    Free Headline Analysis Tool

    Here's a nifty headline analysis tool that determines how emotionally attractive your headlines are. Just type your headline in and it grades its emotional marketing value (EMV) and tells you whether it appeals to people on an empathetic, intellectual or spiritual level.  I used it to tweak a sales page headline and am also using it for email subject headlines. Am curious to see how it effects email open rates.
