    IdeaMarketers Celebrates 10th Anniversary

    Can you believe it? It's been 10 years this month since I launched IdeaMarketers.com as an article directory site. I was an online marketer at the time -- helping companies set up sites and promote them. I had a couple ezines and would send articles to other ezines to build traffic. Other people also sent me lots of articles to include in my ezines.

    The thought occurred to me, "There's got to be a better way to keep up with all these articles," and IdeaMarketers was born. I asked our pr and marketing expert, Nancy Marmolejo, for a fun way to celebrate our 10th anniversary, and she suggested a Harper's Index of how IdeaMarketers has grown over the last 10 years. I thought that was an ingenious idea, so here goes...

    • Date IdeaMarketers.com domain was purchased -- 12/1998
    • Date IdeaMarketers.com opened as an article directory -- 1/1999
    • Number of writers with articles in IdeaMarketers as of today -- 39,247
    • Year we launched our newsletter builder (publishers toolbox) -- 1999
    • Number of articles in the system when the toolbox was launched -- 2,000
    • Year IdeaMarketers moved to SQL Database so we could house unlimited articles -- 2005
    • Number of articles in the IdeaMarketers database as of today (1/9/08) -- 429,323 
    • Number of publishers registered to use IdeaMarketers newsletter builder -- 7,533 
    • Date the Bidding System on IdeaMarketers went live -- 9/8/2004
    • Amount of the first bid placed - $5
    • Date we started putting writer photos and summaries with home page bids -- 10/11/2004
    • Number of articles submitted to IdeaMarketers in the last 30 days -- 17,050
    • Date we launched our Expert 360 Program -- 12/2007
    • Number of page views served up on IdeaMarketers.com in December 2008 -- 4.7 million
