Affiliate marketing has been very good to me, and I think it's a brilliant concept. The merchant doesn't have to pay a penny until his affiliate makes a sale, and the affiliate doesn't have to invest heavily in creating his own products. However, many affiliates are getting ripped off, BIG TIME, and don't even realize it.
Some shams are glaringly obvious. One being a BIG link right in the middle of a sales page inviting potential customers to join the affiliate program. The affiliate spends lots of time and money driving potential customers to a site. Then, the merchant interrupts the sales process and invites the customer to NOT make a purchase, but to sign up as an affiliate instead. Many prospective customers do sign up, then buy through their own affiliate links for an instant discount!

Yes... All the Affiliate Marketers don't allow customers without signup. Affiliate marketing overlaps with other Internet marketing methods to some degree, because affiliates often use regular advertising methods. Those methods include organic search engine optimization, paid search engine marketing, e-mail marketing, and in some sense display advertising.
