Attracting War: Is It Really What You Want?

Anyone who understands the law of attraction knows that you get what you expect... what you focus on, what you work toward, and what you wait for. There's one presidential candidate who expects war throughout the remainder of this century, is that what you want?

SciFi Fantasy Screenplay Award Winner Seeks Producer

Copyright McKinney/Bradshaw 2008A special thanks to author, Anne Bradshaw, for spotlighting me on her "Not Entirely British Blog" yesterday!

Anne's got something exciting going. She's seeking a producer for The Ardanea Pendant, winner of the SciFi Fantasy Award at the International Family Film Festival Hollywood, March 2008.

Screenwriter, Jeanne McKinney, and Anne Bradshaw, collaborated on a new feature screenplay, set in the volatile 60's - Dublin, Ireland. It is time travel adventure with a twist--full of action and mind-teasing fun.

Art by Eric Boden

Three Politics students, fed up with Ireland's civil strife, unleash the hidden powers of a Celtic pendant to catapult through time and reform ancient warriors - redefining their modern world.

Doesn't that sound fascinating! Can't wait to see it on the big screen!

Happy Mother's Day

Am I the only one or at Mother's Day do you sometimes wish you were a better mother? In comparing myself to my own mother, I fall woefully short. The woman seems to have a sixth sense about the needs of her children. I can't tell you the number of times she's shown up at my door with just the item I needed ... especially when I was a young mother struggling to make ends meet. I remember the time I ran out of fabric softener only to go to the front door and find my mother standing there with a bag of groceries dangling from her arm. What would I find inside? Of course, a bottle of fabric softener!

Not only is she border-line psychic, she faithfully attended every one of my basketball games and still shows up when I'm speaking somewhere in town. She's been my sounding board, my friend, and my soft place to land. I thank God daily for my saint of a mother. I only wish my children could do the same! And so, I've put together some sage advice from various experts so we can all learn a little bit more about improving our mother-child relationships. You may read what the experts have to say in the article, "This Mother's Day Improve Your Mother-Child Relationships."

Marcia Lynn McClure and Her Sticks

When Marcia was here visiting her sister Luanna, we spent a day together. We took a walk across our property to the creek and enjoyed a beautiful day in nature. Along the way Marcia picked up a couple sticks as treasures. She's the only person I know who can weave a story out of a couple water-rotten sticks. LOL For an entertaining read, hop over to Marcia's blog for a few pictures and her version of the day.

The Power of Gratitude in Wealth Building

I recently interviewed wealth building expert, Brenda Coté about her amazing life story. Brenda went from growing up living on dirt floors and having an outhouse in Mexico to being a successful real estate investor in California. The full interview is on the CreateAWOW Podcast, but I wanted to share this short 5-6 minute clip where she talks about gratitude and the important role it's played in her success. Great stuff here! After you listen, I'd love to hear your comments about how gratitude has helped you.

Chickamauga Creek . . . My Thinking Spot

When my friend Marcia was here visiting from Colorado, we walked down to my thinking spot along the Chickamauga Creek. The picture below is one Marcia took of her niece Sara and me.  I love this picture because it captures the spot so well and has sweet little Sara in it. This is the place I go whenever I'm overwhelmed or when I need a place to meditate. Many of my prayers have been answered along this creek. It's brought inspiration for both business ideas and books.

I highly recommend finding your own thinking spot . . . somewhere that fills you with gratitude to God for all that is beautiful and good in the world. Then go there often not only to pray and express gratitude, but also to listen. It's amazing what comes when we take time to listen.

Work, Work, Work and Coming Up for Air

Whew, what a busy couple weeks it's been! The IdeaMarketers expert program is taking off and I've been working 10-12 hour days 6 days/week keeping up with it while also working to systematize, automate and delegate as much as I can.

My objective is to find my life again and still have the business zipping along at lightning speed. For years I intentionally held back business growth because I wasn't much of a delegator. Control freak might make a good descriptor. :) But I've been doing better at this delegation thing of late. Greg is working in the business, keeping up with blogs. Next week I'll be training Laurel to take over a lot of the technical aspects since she's a whiz at html and graphic design. And my VA, Luanna Rodham  has finally finished her radiation, coming through her breast cancer recovery like a trooper. So hopefully she'll have enough energy to take over a lot of the article writing/promotion tasks.

This should free me for one-on-one interactions with my clients, teleclasses and sales and still leave time for writing. So now you know why I'm woefully behind on IamJoyful lessons! I promise to send out a lesson soon.

I set up 4 blogs that Greg's keeping up with on a daily basis and including, tips, tools and events from our experts. I'm excited about the full range of talent we have in our expert village. These are some phenomenal people and just associating with them is accelerating my success and raising my thermometer about what is possible. Please stop by and get to know our talented experts on these blogs:

Music, Musings and More

I promised a few more video clips from our meet and greet, so here they are. This first one is a video of Marcia singing "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You" in case you weren't able to get into Facebook to see it:

This next one is a clip of Marcia telling the story behind the cover for "The Whispered Kiss." The event she's describing happened last August when she and I were at the LDSBA Bookseller's Convention.

And the last one is a fun song my nephew Noah and his wife Hannah wrote together, "She Won't Be My Baby." Aren't they adorable together!

Heaven on Earth: Food, Family, Friends and Music

I've decided that all that is required for heaven on earth is friends, family, food and music. We had a blast Saturday night for our Meet and Greet. The foundation of the evening was some of my hubby's gourmet goodies. Then there was Marcia Lynn McClure and her hilarious stories and amazing voice. I talked her into singing one of her signature songs of the 80's for us. She chose, "How Am I Supposed to Live without You" and then she graced us with a shortened rendition of "O Divine Redeemer." What a voice that woman has! I thought the glass in my china cabinet might shatter, she got so high.

I uploaded videos of both songs to Facebook. You may need to become my Facebook friend to see those. But that's not hard and I love friends! :)

My nephew Noah Collins showed up with his wife Hannah and they entertained us with a few songs. Then my friends from Atlanta arrived. Nancy Spivey and Nancy Gerber (aka The Nancys) are two of our experts on IdeaMarketers. Nancy Gerber and Noah performed a soulful rendition of "House of the Rising Sun." Video below.

We had a group of sisters and their mother drive up from Jacksonville, Florida as well as two friends drive down from Nashville. This is simply a testament to the great lengths people will go to in order to associate with Marcia. I've decided that people like the way she makes them feel. When you run into those rare individuals who make you feel great about yourself and who help you remember what it's like to be young again and have fun, you'll do whatever it takes to be around them. That's Marcia!

I'll be uploading a few more video clips shortly. Marcia told a few "stories behind the story" that were simply hilarious. Keep an eye out for those in the next few days as I have time to post them.

PS... I've added more here

My Eagle Scout

Our son, Caleb, had his Eagle Scout Court of Honor tonight. Both sets of his grandparents were able to be there for the special occasion. My husband conducted the meeting and I could tell he was getting a little choked up in spots. I kept imagining Caleb as a little newborn in ICU. We almost lost him the night of his birth. How blessed we've been that he turned out to be such a healthy, willing and obedient young man. We couldn't be more pleased to have him as our son!

Caleb coordinated a group of people to plant 1,100 trees in the Chickamauga Battlefield for his Eagle Scout Project. The project was part of an effort by the National Park System to restore the Chickamauga Battlefield to it's historical appearance during the Civil War Battle of Chickamauga
