I'm not the greatest poet on the planet, but as I sat down to write the feelings of my heart this evening, an article didn't appear, but this poem. I thought I'd share it with you here. :)
When light is gone
From eyes that once twinkled bright
When hope has fled
And there is nothing left but night.
When dreams have died
And journeys end
These are the times
You've been my Friend.
In manna days
You've clothed and fed.
Despite complaints I might've said
Thy tender mercies never fled.
Oh Lord, forgive my lack of faith.
Forgive my frequent despair.
I should have known Thou wouldst be there.
Should have trusted Thy unfailing care.
In this promised land
Now I see Thy grace --
Thy guiding hand
That led me to this place.
Where honey flows
And abundance rains
Where blossoms grow
And heavens shower gain.
I see so clearly now that
In my darkest moments, always Thou wast there.
How long it took for me to trust
In Thy infinite care!
Day by day my shoulders Thou didst strengthen
And my burdens Thou didst lighten --
That I might bear them with ease
As I fell upon my knees.
Let me ever stand as witness
Of Thy boundless care.
May my gratitude ascend forever
For Thy patient love so rare.
May I remember this journey's lessons,
And hold them deep within my heart --
That I may guide some weary traveler
With wisdom Thou doest bid me to impart.
