Lead Generation is just a fancy name for attracting clients to you and your business. If you don't have a steady stream of your Ideal, High-Paying clients then your cash flow is shot as I'm sure you already know. Luckily I got great advice from my "master sales guy" Dad, just starting out in sales and marketing at USA TODAY and later as an investment advisor in Texas and Real Estate Agent in South Africa. He always told me "It doesn't matter how much you know if you don't have anyone to talk to."
